High Sheriffs Awards

The High Sheriff of Greater London makes awards twice a year to citizens who have given outstanding service in helping the police carry out their duties. All recipients are encouraged to attend this special occasion, bringing family or other guests. The last ceremony took place in the Supreme Court in the presence of senior judges, and representatives of the Lord Lieutenant and the Commissioner of the Police of the Metropolis. The High Sheriff gave an informal reception afterwards so that recipients of awards could meet each other and be further recognised and thanked by police, judges and High Sheriff.

The awards are directed by the courts under section 28 of the Criminal Law Act 1826 and made by the High Sheriff.
